The picture at left is a presidential campaign poster for the Populist Party. This poster shows James B. Weaver for Presidential Candidate and James Field as Vice president for the 1892 election. At the top of this poster we see "Equal Rights to all: Special Privileges to None" as a sign of protest against who we can assume is the Industrial leaders of the United States. Also, within the colmns of text next to each candidate, we find the following excerpt:
"We demand a national currency, safe, sound and flexible, issued by the general government only, a full legal tender for all debts, public and private, and that without the use of banking corporations; that a just, equitable and efficient means of distribution direct to the people, at a tax not to exceed two per cent. per annum, to be provided, as set forth in the subtreasury plan of the Farmers’ Alliance, or some better system; also by payments in discharge of its obligations for public improvements."
This excerpt demonstrates everything that the Populist party stands for. They want a "national currency, safe, sound, and flexible" contractions have caused farms to suffer because they do not thrive on gold and silver. "Without the use of banking corporations" is protest against the banking corporations that are reducing inflation for benefit of Industrial leaders. The Populist party also criticizes banks for supporting industrialist by supporting "just, equitable, and efficient means of distribution direct [emphasis added] to the people..." This is because the farms, as much of the rest of the nation, are at the whim of the industrial leaders for economic prosperity.
